Dentists Flee

There is some truth to the fact that Brits have bad teeth (it's actually mentioned in more than a few movies, that one can always tell Americans by their gleaming teeth, The Good Year, to name just one). Well, don't you know that the "absolutely wonderful universal health care" that European countries are so famous for has caused this to be true. This article chronicles the flight of dentists from the national health system in Britain because, once again, it is proven that government only gums up the works. Government never makes the problem better, they make it much worse. COMPETITION is what will make health care affordable. Just look at what has happened to the cost of laser eye surgery in the last 10 years because it is NOT covered by insurance! The cost continues to fall. It works every time. It's a lesson that is lost on the left. Here in the U.S. if government paved the way by making it advantageous for private business to offer competing health plans, the cost would come down. Government must get out of the health care business. Only then will we have affordable health insurance.

Pen is mightier than enviros

I just love it when Bush wields that pen to strike horror into the hearts of the environmentalists! Environmentalists, being the utopian fascists (I do not use that word lightly) that they are, seek to use their power (and they have become quite powerful) to abridge people's freedom whenever and wherever they can, over imaginary dangers and  because they are fascists they absolutely hate our military. They have sought to keep our military from using the beach in Southern California for military exercises because of "environmental damage" to the eco-system and in this case from practicing with sonar for anti-submarine warfare. Bush has exempted them from these environmental regulations because our national security is more important. Besides that, whales have been beaching themselves for hundreds of years, (and even recently where no sonar has been used at all) and no one really knows why. It has just become convenient to blame our navy.

Democrats and Conspiracy Theories

The 2000 elections was a pandora's box that let loose conspiracy nuts and we will never be the same again. Every election we have will have people claiming that the election was "fixed" or that there was fraud involved. And there is no amount of proof that will satisfy. That is, after all, what marks a nut. No amount of proof, not a recount, nothing will ever be enough to prove to these people that they are wrong. Now, in New Hampshire, the nuts are asking for a recount because there is a discrepancy between the projections and the results! But get this: it happened on BOTH SIDES, DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS! And there is even the claim that Republicans sabotaged the count to give the win to Hillary! Are they out of their minds? Yes, they are. Well, they're getting their recount. Those eviilllll Diebold people have struck again! Somehow Haliburton must be mixed up in this...This great article, "Democrats and Conspiracy Theories", (why is it always the Democrats?), by my one of my favorite sites, will lay it all out for you.

Indian Gaming

This really stinks to high heaven. Lost contracts? Right. I'm voting "no" just on principle on the initiatives for Indian gaming. I have never liked the idea that some people get off without paying taxes whilst bringing gambling into our community. Yes, I know their long, sad history. My Mexican ancestors didn't have it easy either. But we are all Americans now, thank God! Be sure to read this and consider when you vote!

Columbus discovers syphilis

So now a study is out that says that Columbus contracted syphilis from the indians and took it back to the Old World! A tribe of  indians from Guyana originated the strain and gave it to Chris and his men. Wow! What will Liberals say now? Poor Chris. Blamed for over 400 years for killing the red man, a pillar of truth of the multiculturalists. You know they won't let go of that one, no matter the evidence.

Immigration

The Democrats are split with race issues, the wife of the "first black president" having "words" back and forth with the real first black presidential candidate, Obama. Who would'a thunk that the party of "tolerance" is so concerned with the color of people's skin? No color-blindness there. Meanwhile, no one in the media or in the Democrat party, are talking about issues. You know, those things that affect our country today, like the economy, the war in Iraq, Immigration. It's all vague pap like "change", "hope", "unity". Hmmmm. Immigration. A political hot button for the country today and one that the Democrats want to stay away from, lest they anger hispanic voters. The little secret is that the two major constituencies of the Democrat party are hispanic voters and black voters and their views on immigration are diametrically opposed! It's no wonder that the media are not asking hard questions. Those are reserved for the Republicans! But sooner or later, they're going to have to take a stand when confronted by a Republican opponent. Unless, of course, it's John McCain....he'll want to reach across the stage...to reach out. You know..like he always does.."unity".

Conservatism

"Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom. "

"Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude. "

"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money."                                                           Alexis de Tocqueville

Conservatism is a set of principles; it is a philosophy, a standard; the set of principles that drove our founding fathers to form the most brilliant form of government and to write the most brilliant document in history, our Constitution. I am a conservative because the principles, and the rights, I stand on were given to me by God and I oppose government tyranny. Our founding fathers believed this. Lest there be any of you out there that need a refresher course on what conservatism is, go here. And here is a great treatise of limited government, as our founders understood it.

Winning is a by-product of having the right agenda for the country. Conservatives should not want to win "at any cost".  "Moving towards voters" is not an option. That is precisely what has cost Republicans dearly. We are not populists, we are conservatives. What some are saying is that we sell out our vision of what we know will make a better America. If our message is losing then we have to educate people about what it is that makes economies stronger, how lowering taxes increases revenues to the treasury, how the private sector runs a business better than the government ever could and how government regulation strangles business and abridges freedom. When we are surrounded by a very liberal media it becomes increasingly difficult to really educate the voter but we must never stop trying. If our goal is only to win then the message does not matter. But is isn't our only goal.

But apparently conservatism wins: In 2004, the Democrats won house and senate seats by running candidates that ran to the right of our own candidates. They ran candidates that were tougher on immigration, in Arizona against J.D. Hayworth. They ran military men in Ohio. The guy that beat Rick Santorum in Pennsylvania ran as pro-life and more conservative than Rick. It was a strategy that gave seats to Democrats and the Democrat leaders didn't mind this (they planned it this way!) because once in Washington those Democrats were beholden to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and they voted with the Democrat herd. What they DIDN'T RUN ON WAS IRAQ. They never ran on "we'll get America out of Iraq". Look it up.

Conservative principles WIN EVERY TIME. But Republicans begin moving to the middle, watering down their message, reaching across the aisle, to get along, once they get to Washington. And people become VERY UNHAPPY with them. THIS IS WHY DEMOCRATS WERE ABLE TO RUN TO THE RIGHT OF OUR CANDIDATES IN 2004. WE WATERED DOWN OUR PRINCIPLES.

When polls say "60% of those polled want troops to come home" you have to read how the questions are posed. Are those polled able to qualify their answers? NO! When asked "do you want the troops to come home"? who would answer no? I want them to come home too, BUT AFTER WE FINISH THE JOB!

The leftist media has a definite advantage when posing questions and interpreting stories. But one thing remains true: CONSERVATIVE IDEALS WIN EVERY TIME. WE JUST HAVE TO GET SOME BACKBONE!

The "Reagan Revolution" is NEVER OVER! It is an on-going war against government tyranny, Liberalism and weary politicians who would rather give in than fight. I am greatly saddened to hear so many conservative warriors saying that maybe conservatism must change to accommodate today's problems. No sir! Today's problems need conservatism and the Republican party needs a leader.

NOTE: I perhaps should have noted that the above commentary is from a letter I sent to Mr. Daniel Finkelstein from the U.K. TIMESONLINE in response to his article "All Change: the Right Knows it's Wrong". Today, when I tuned in to listen to Rush, he echoed my very sentiments on the subject of abandoning conservatism and the lack of leadership in the Republican party. It appears I am on the right track!

FREEDOM? OF RELIGION

How can supposedly educated educators continuously misread our Constitution? This is just one of many ridiculous stories of absolute insanity, where a student's freedom of speech and religion are being restrained. I really wish that the Supreme Court would once and for all settle the question about religion in public schools. THERE IS NOTHING IN OUR CONSTITUTION THAT PROHIBITS STUDENTS FROM EXPRESSING THEIR FAITH WHEREVER AND WHENEVER THEY CHOOSE. THE FIRST AMENDMENT KEEPS OUR GOVERNMENT FROM ADOPTING A STATE RELIGION, AS IN ENGLAND. THAT'S IT! THE FIRST AMENDMENT WAS NOT MEANT TO GAG US! IT'S FREEDOM OF RELIGION. The so-called "wall of separation" is nowhere in our Constitution; It is a phrase in a letter by Thomas Jefferson. What are all these people afraid of, anyway? If you're an atheist than it shouldn't be any skin off your nose to listen. it's intolerant, that's what it is!

McCain's Immigration Record

Just who does Senator McCain think he's fooling on his immigration record? One of the reasons why senators rarely win the presidency is because they have to deal with a voting record in the senate. McCain's does not stand up to the Republican base's scrutiny.  Here are a few items from the Washington Times:

Supporting mass amnesty. The May 29, 2003, Tucson Citizen quoted Mr. McCain as stating that "Amnesty has to be an important part of" any immigration solution. He was part of the bipartisan coalition that tried to pass amnesty legislation in 2006 and 2007. In 2006 he voted in favor of S. 2611, legislation that would reward between 10 and 11 million illegals with amnesty if they apply for legal status and pay a $2,000 fine.

Supporting in-state tuition for illegal aliens. Mr. McCain was a cosponsor of S. 774, the Dream Act, providing in-state tuition for illegal aliens. The legislation would have enabled illegal aliens who entered the United States before age 16 to obtain a green card and then use their newly acquired status to obtain green cards for the millions of parents who illegally brought their children with them into the United States. Mr. McCain missed a Senate vote on the issue in October. He said that he would have opposed it on the Senate floor had he been there to vote.

Voted to kill border fence. In 2006, Mr. McCain voted for an amendment to S. 2611 offered by Sen. Arlen Specter to require consultation with the Mexican government concerning the construction of fencing along the U.S.-Mexican border. According to Numbers USA, an organization that lobbies against illegal immigration, this amendment would have effectively guaranteed that the border fence was never built.

Voted against permanently barring gang members and terrorists from the United States. Last year, Mr. McCain voted against an amendment (Senate Amendment 1184) introduced by Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican, that would have permanently barred gang members, terrorists, sex offenders, alien absconders, aliens convicted of domestic violence and aliens convicted of at least three DUIs from the United States. The Cornyn Amendment was rejected on a 51-46 vote.

Voted in favor of Social Security benefits to illegal aliens who commit identity fraud. In 2006. Mr. McCain joined with Mr. Kennedy in working to defeat an amendment by Sen. John Ensign, Nevada Republican, that would have barred Social Security credits for work being done prior to their receiving amnesty — in other words, while working under a false Social Security number. The Ensign Amendment, (Senate Amendment 3985) was defeated on a 50-49 vote.

And, if that weren't enough, he's jumped into the green bandwagon with the kooky environmentalists! Every single limited government conservative ought to be holding on tight to their pocketbooks!

Charlie Wilson's (and Reagan's) War

Mama's, don't let your kids get their history from the movies! I've had this talk with my kids explaining to them that Hollywood's business is to skew history to the left and rewrite it whenever they can and so conform it to their fantasy, and, oh, yeah, make some money. Although, apparently, that last is by no means their main objective, as we can see from the disasters that were the recently made political movies on the Iraq war. Even though the movie, Motorcycle Diaries, was a beautifully made piece of art, it romanticized a thug and a killer and it totally distorted the historical truth. But it fueled this commercial mania of Che Gueverra t-shirts by kids that don't know any better. So now, with Charlie Wilson's War, (this link will give you the story) which I hear is still a great movie, there is, however, no mention of President Reagan, who was the main actor in the real life drama. President Reagan is despised by Hollywood so we won't hold our breath for any truth on that subject. Unfortunately, too many of our kids are getting their history lessons from Hollywood, without any objection (possibly because we lack the knowledge ourselves?) from parents. Just as we will not allow our littlest ones to watch movies with objectionable sex or language, so also, we should make sure that our older kids are aware of the skewed history and make sure that they get the real story. With a computer in every home this should not be difficult! Just make sure it's a reliable source (I've had people say to me that if it's on google then it must be true! Remember, the nuts use google too!). Knowing the truth about history will go a long way towards helping you raise great, conservative, America-loving kids!

Economics 101

Hugo Chavez is well on his way to turning Venezuela into Cuba with his price controls. Price controls have caused a shortage and now the dictator is threatening to take their property away as punishment. See, children, this is what happens when government (and that includes our government!) tells businesses how much to sell their products for. When Uncle Sam tells "Big Pharma" how much to sell their drugs for to make them "more affordable" it has the unfortunate result of causing shortages and raising the prices! It's economics 101. Pity we don't teach economics in high schools anymore!

Redefining Gender in California Schools

Another reason why I've taken my son out of the public school system! California senate bill 777 redefines gender-as if we don't know the difference! Read for yourselves: Senate bill 777

McCain's Record

Yes, I know he's a war hero but sometimes war heroes don't make the best politicians. I found a great article from National Review Online that outlines the many reasons why I do not think John McCain is right for president. He is NOT A CONSERVATIVE. And I don't know if I'd even call him a moderate. He has seemed, in the past to take positions that would endear him to the media, and often that meant poking his fellow Republicans in the eye. Reaching across the aisle, for him, has come at the cost of the unity of the Republican party. Read up on these points for the next time you get in a debate:http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=YjUzOGY0ODA1YzBmNjFhOWE5NWU0OTY5NTZiOGNhOGQ#more

Human Events Endorses

Iconic Conservative magazine, Human Events, endorses Fred Thompson, my choice, for president! He has a long road to hoe but, God willing, he can break through. It may not have been very wise of his campaign to have waited so long to really jump into the fray but he is the clearest conservative choice out there. I'm a party girl, though, and I'll vote for the nominee but wouldn't it be wonderful.....!  Here's their endorsement..http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=24398

it's a great read-it gives you the lowdown on their view on the other candidates.
